Capper’s subjects, largely still life, landscapes and figures, are selected from the immediate environment. These starting points are used to develop a powerful and striking richness of colour which defines form and space.
This exhibition brings together a collection of paintings created over the last five years. Reminiscent of early 20 th century British artists like Ben Nicholson and William Scott, Capper’s paintings create poetic beauty (Art Almanac, October 2005) encouraging the viewer to rediscover the joy of observing nature.
