FREE picnic at the art gallery

join Carol Duncan and the Afternoons team from ABC radio for a live broadcast from the recently refurbished MRAG
Families with children under school age are invited to a FREE morning tea picnic on Monday 30 August from 10:00am-12:00pm in the MRAG grounds.
Enjoy yummy treats, free art activities, reading activities, singing songs and children's Gallery tours.
Bring your picnic rug and get comfortable in MRAG's backyard.
For your chance to attend the family picnic morning tea, listen to Carol Duncan from 11:00am-3:00pm from Monday 23 August - Friday 27 August.
Everyone is invited to the Gallery from 1:00pm - 3:00pm on this day when Carol and the team will continue to broadcast live, meet the local characters and find out what is happening in the Maitland area.

Come to MRAG to watch talented musicians and solo artists perform in the ambience of the art gallery. Over the years MRAG has had the pleasure to host international acts such as Canadian blues signer/songwriter Harry Manx, and from the United States, Kristina Olsen. Australian performers at MRAG have included flautist Jane Rutter and Shakuhachi player Riley Lee. MRAG also hosts traditional and contemporary musical duos and ensembles such as Sirocco, Rhythm Hunter and The Dominant Seven. Bookings are required.

MRAG lecture series
The MRAG Lecture Series presents the perspectives of artists, curators, and academics in relation to exhibitions on display. These art lectures and floor talk events are a casual informative way of developing your understanding of artworks, exhibitions and artists. Call the gallery to inquire about future lectures and floor talks, or to make a booking. Attendance is by gold coin donation, and bookings are required if the event is catered.

MRAG has a strong working community of members who organise a number of activities, including coach tours to events such as Sculpture by the Sea in Bondi or to the Art Gallery of NSW to see the Archibald Prize. All funds raised go towards children’s, teen’s and family programs at MRAG or other special MRAGM projects.

Small groups are welcome to book an art gallery tour provided by gallery staff at no cost and at a time which is convenient for you and your group. These tours are a perfect way to accentuate an annual or monthly meeting, or even simply an outing with friends.

The art gallery is a wonderfully colourful and cultural venue for weddings and special occasions, as well as corporate functions. A range of hire options are available, and can include catering. Contact art gallery staff for more information.
