members coach trip | sculpture by the sea saturday 7 november 2009

We started off with umbrellas in hand not sure what the weather was going to do. As we drove down the highway the blue skies opened up with the sun shining, a great start to the day.

Our first stop was for morning tea and more than one person commented on the quality of the morning tea supplied by Northern Highland travel coaches, the biscuits and cakes were home made and tasted delicious. (I hear the owner Robert makes the biscuits and cakes)

We arrived at the studio of artist Salvatore Zofrea where he greeted us with open arms and everybody was touched by his generosity. He shared his knowledge and explained his wood block process from beginning to end. Some purchases were made by some very lucky people and two hours later we were off to Bondi.

After a quick bite to eat we were eager to explore the thirteenth annual exhibition, Sculpture by the Sea. There were 114 Sculptures to view so with no time to waste we were off, we all had our favourites. This is the fourth coach trip we have made to Bondi and every time it is different.

As anticipated we raffled all the way down and all the way back with some very happy winners.  A big thankyou to Sekt Hair and Body, Helen Tolhurst and the mrag for there very generous donations. We raised over $1600.

As we were travelling home the skies closed up and the rain came pouring down. We were told later it rained nearly all day in Maitland so we were very lucky indeed.

A big thankyou to everyone who came on the trip, it wouldn’t be possible to raise money for our art gallery if it weren’t for you all.
