The Art Factory is a two storey exhibition area funded initially by the Thyne Reid Foundation that allows kids be kids. Upstairs in the Exhibition Space, kids can enjoy viewing exhibitions mounted especially for them. Downstairs in the Play Space, they can interact and play with hands-on art installations linked to the exhibition held upstairs. The Play Space is also located next to the new MRAG café, a place where parents can sit down with a coffee and give their children a chance to explore art nearby while still being able to be monitored.

Exhibitions in the Art Factory will change four times a year, and are intended to encourage children to get involved with art and be creative by allowing them to learn through interaction and play. The exhibitions and Play Spaces will be different from date to date, but can utilise the newly acquired and especially designed children's furniture, showcases and fittings including a new interactive 1. 8m² wooden pin-wall. The Art Factory and MRAG has already established programs of events and activities for kids which are expected to make MRAG the most accessible, inviting, child-friendly art gallery in the Hunter Valley.
