sirocco

sunday 11 november 2pm - 5pm
sirocco is an internationally renowned band made up of many accomplished musicians including: peter jacob - percussion, andrew
de teliga - strings and composition, chai chang ning - chinese flute, hugh moran - keyboard, voice and indian harmonium.

sirocco will be performing their well known original pieces as well as a song about les darcy written by lorraine milne and jack hibberd. several local schools will be working with the band to compose their own music based on the maitland region, its history and les darcy to coincide with the les darcy exhibition on display at the gallery. they will be performing these pieces together in this one off performance at mrag.

rhythm hunters

the rhythm hunters fuse the thunder of Japanese taiko drumming with indigenous Islamic music from West Sumatra.

dominant SEVEN consists of seven graduate and postgraduate musicians from the Australian National University School of Music in Canberra. Following its official launch at the National Library of Australia in 2004, the ensemble has successfully performed in Canberra, Sydney, Darwin, Orange, Albury, Wodonga, Wagga Wagga and Wollongong.
